A massive collision with an object from space early in the history of Mars helped create what could be the largest impact structure in the solar system, according to three studies to be published this week in the journal Nature.
Mars, commonly known as the Red Planet, could also be called the lopsided planet, since much of its southern hemisphere has a dramatically higher elevation and a thicker crust.
