A question: Why is the Christian God "a jealous god"?

Well, I tend to be dismissive of the belief held by many English learners who are Chinese that studying American soap operas such as "Friends" can really elevate one's English proficiency. Doing that just turns them into familiarized consumers of American pop cultural products.
