This blog is partly devoted to the sharing of my learning of the English language (my well mastered mother tongue is Chinese and I am not an English teacher) and its *cultures*, partly to the current significant trends in Canada and in the world, and partly to my own random thoughts and little life. I am not religious, but I am somewhat interested in Christianity and Buddhism, among other personal interests. Welcome. And, have a good day.

Many social contracts have changed on the individuals.
The society will have to bear the consequences.

So controversial is the Stand-your-ground law prevalent in the U.S., especially Florida.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand-your-ground_law. People say that it at least gives armed vigilantes excuses.

My toddler daughter told me that she had played "Hulu-Hoop" during the day. But, it should be "Hula-Hoop" instead.
One shouldn't learn a language from a child. :-)

It appears that more and more people who had had Christian and Jewish faith have turned agnostic.
Victoria Nuland's father, Professor Sherwin B. Nuland, a native Jewish American and a surgeon, is one of them. "Although raised in a traditional Orthodox Jewish home, Sherwin now considers himself agnostic, but continues to attend synagogue." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherwin_B._Nuland )
In a typical democratic society, damning reports are broadcast every now and then.
Is it a good thing for the society, or is it a bad thing?

It seems that Christianity is against one being idolatrous.
The Christian view of idolatry is intriguing to me.
