Vintage music video - 一首含有虚拟语气的歌 - Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

Lyrics: http://goo.gl/J6nDw .

The introduction copied from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxPj3GAYYZ0:
"Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991. Clapton, who arrived at the apartment shortly after the accident, was visibly distraught for months afterwards. This song is one of Clapton's most successful, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the U.S. The song also spent three weeks at #1 on the American adult contemporary chart in 1992.

It's an excellent dirge.

As for the '虚拟语气' in the post title, by that, I don't mean falsetto, I mean Subjunctive Mood. :-)

It can take hours or even a day to dismiss unhappiness from one's mind.

So many people have been sifting Obama.

Some people tend to make overhasty decisions over critical matters, such as choosing a career for themselves, while they make tardy progresses over some other critical matters, such as enlightening themselves about how to properly rear a child.

The fine balances between chancy intaking of information and systematic intaking...

French IS more euphonious than many languages.

Deep seems to be the recent sexual assault case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the lately resigned MD of IMF. It may be a smear campaign, it may not.

"Strauss-Kahn had been expected to be a leading candidate for the 2012 French Presidency under the Socialist Party. Preliminary polling suggested he was favored to defeat the incumbent, Nicolas Sarkozy." (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominique_Strauss-Kahn_sexual_assault_case#Political .)

On another note, the family name "Kahn", which he for one possesses, is an interesting and widespread one.

The affright of great earthquakes has grasped the world in the recent several years. What will computation be able to do in order to support the field of seismology?

Why couldn't people like the leprous woman in the above pic get timely treatment, given that the once precarious leprosy had already become totally curable due to the advancements in medicine?

Perhaps I'll shift back to China in the future.

Now Michael Ignatieff is nearly a spent force. That former university prof and Harvard U. scholar must have a lot to chew. And now we know that the battle field of real world politics have different game rules than that of the ivory tower.

On a related note, it amazed me that both Micheal Ignatieff and Jack Layton hold PhD degrees. Gee, overeducated Canadians.

If one subscribes to information sources with too many heavy updates, then his reading experience is made to be fleeting.

Well, well, RIM must be dead and phantasmal in the eyes of app developers. The latter are already excruciatingly busy with doing two rounds of software development for the same app, for iPhone and Android.

It doesn't feel very good to see the beginning of the end of RIM. It's another Canadian tech giant falling down in the face of new competition, after the colossal demise of Nortel.

It takes wisdom and judgement to respect another person's spite but dismiss her as a person who's not worthwhile.

Are there more wanton killings to be seen in Pakistan, given that Bin Laden got assassinated in that country by Americans? India must be on full alert about the development of situations in Pakistan.

Look, the skyrocketing inflation of living expenses and wages in China has started to drive out foreign companies, which are now looking elsewhere for labor, probably back in their home countries. Combined with the backdrop of the steeply rising transportation costs wreaked by upward moving gas prices, now we can suppose China's economy and employment situation will have to face increasing troubles.

Just consider how consequential the subject matter and policies of macroeconomics are for a country and its average Joes and average Janes.

Obama's stance on Israel is quite interesting.

Westerners run the world by ideas and facts, I observe.

Continuously reading too many books quickly means reading sans sufficient thinking, I suspect.

Silence may be a euphemistic way of expressing 'no' or disrespect, or may be a sign that the person doesn't know how to communicate very well.

Saint Patrick, Saint Patrick Cathedral of NYC, and Saint Patrick's Day

1. Saint Patrick, "is the most generally recognized patron saint of Ireland". He was said to be associated with visions of Purgatory.

2. The Saint Patrick's Cathedral is "located on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets in midtown Manhattan, New York City, New York, directly across the street from Rockefeller Center."

3. On Saint Patrick's Day, parades are typically held internationally. But it is not made a public holiday in Canada.

Here goes a gnome by Beethoven -- "Music is the mediator between the spiritual and sensual life." So insightful.

The medley of American citizens has backgrounds from all over the world. And that makes the overseas operations of American governmental and military agencies not encumbered by lack of local knowledge.

"Rain heralds the arrival of spring." is such a very well written sentence.

Apple can elicit rabid fandom among people all over the world nowadays. Few people care about that it was in quite difficult and painful situations once or several times before.

Well, when Microsoft bought up Skype, was it merely buying out a competitor? After all, Microsoft had an excellent free video chat product up and running for years already, which was the Windows Live Messenger.

In China, so profound are the effects of the proliferation of internet access, which greatly facilitates the diffusion of information.

For instance, the young people cannot be easily fooled any more. No more.

I don't really get why Google makes Android versions so ephemeral. Such an ephemeral fashion. Gee.

Is UNIX the ultimate Rambo OS?

The keystrokes on my new white HP laptop feel crisper than those on the older black one.

Pleasant industrial design, isn't it?

The excruciating tardiness of improving one's English level is something that he must endure.

China's economy has been in full bloom for around two decades. How long will it be before the deep-running social problems surface in its society? And how much derailment will that do to its economy?

To my untrained eyes, moles, beavers, and groundhogs look quite similar.

Gradually and increasingly, more ads on YouTube are playing peekaboo with viewers.

Some profs make students learn like swallowing fish with bones. They don't have time to solve problems existing in their understanding and have to hurry up towards the next learning unit. Fish bones remain there.

It appears that some people perennially seek tips on English learning, but they never put real efforts into really learning it except watching a little bit of American soap operas.

Lack of time is modern people's tsuris. Well, to put it another way, maybe the excessive complexity of life is modern people's tsuris.

Outlaying big bucks will be required to upgrade Canada's internet bandwidth capacity before long, in order to prevent Canada's international competition position from falling significantly, I guess.

It's a little surreal to me that Michael Ignatieff and Gilles Duceppe, two household political names in Canada, were just politically dispatched. They were just gone overnight.

Gee. I can't believe that the family name 'Lazar', whose literal meaning is so repulsive in English, is actually so commonplace

I don't know. How many notaries are not writing boilerplates?

The discipline of heraldry looks interesting.

In computing, speed of (software) development has increasingly outweighed speed of (program) execution.

A mobile client of a website provides an additional buffer of or approach to the reservoir of data on that website.

Well, Pakistan's duplicity has been so greatly exposed in this whole thing of Osama Bin Laden's hiding and death. No more trust for them?

Well, Chinese foodstuff and cuisine tends to be more wholesome than its Canadian counterpart. I don't see why it doesn't get more adopted in Canada more quickly.

The U.S., a formidable power on the Earth, has spent even roughly 10 years to hunt down Bin Laden. Now we know how long good results take.

Strangely, it may be the case that a person's fate will eventually crucify him for what he has not done instead of for what he has done.

Inundated with information.

As a matter of fact, if a person chooses to reside in Canada, then he implicitly chooses to be aligned with the interests of Canada and the West, on all fronts including economy, politics, culture, and security, whether he really knows that or not.

Ah, those alleys and lanes among individuals' privacy bubbles...

There are so many typography fans out there.

Well, Canadian companies being not aggressive enough in keeping really up to date may be a choke chain for Canada's economy.

In Canada, rounds of national election campaigns look fit to get citizens engaged in the politics of the nation.

They are good shows in their own kind, aren't they?

The American and Canadian governments usually wait until a recession to incur big outlays for infrastructure repairs, which I suppose is a good practice.

Gradually, more and more Japanese products are no longer world-beaters, I feel.

The young generations in China have become such ardent consumers of cultural goods and foodstuff from the West, Japan and South Korea. They appear to be totally swooned. Gee.

Who doesn't like a bistro whose open door speaks elegance and respect invitingly?

There are so many invisible ways, which can only be seen by the mind's eye, to go in this world.

As English learners, we must be aware that there are many memes in the North American culture. And we should gradually grasp them.

Ignorance often wreaks nonchalance.

An individual who has earned the epithet 'lazy' may just be not interested in, for whatever causes, doing what he does not do enough and so that he is called 'lazy'.

But this question must be considered carefully: what are those causes which make him uninterested?

The Celestial Empire obviously has significantly increased its influences in the African continent. But how about the Middle East, given that the U.S. lately successfully killed Bin Laden and deserves ever more respect over there?

Anyways, I've been thinking that China will be on an increasingly precarious track of economic growth, against the backdrop that the energy prices are anticipated to rise steadily and China's economy depends increasingly heavily, I guess, on energy.

On Douban.com, some people appear to live relatively lewd life, how much of that appearance is true?

On a related note, anyhow, the marriages in China have become ever more fragile. What sort of society will it become for children when many of their families are broken?

Very much knowledge is subtle but profound.

As a person's age grows, he becomes more aware and warier of the possible consequences of what he utters. So for him, it may be the case that there will be more and more personal opinions not fit to be disclosed.

Maybe it's time to broach the subject that actually it's the boys, instead of the girls, who are disadvantaged.

Maybe people's thirst for information is doomed to be only sated by information overload.

So why don't we squelch our thirst?

Some unchaste stories and behaviors, when fairly attractively presented in the forms of arts, fictions, and movies, are designed to provoke people to think harder, and maybe deeper, I guess.

In Greek mythology, Lethe, is "a river in Hades whose water when drunk made the souls of the dead forget their life on earth".

It corresponds to (冥界的)"忘川" in Chinese.

*Note: The word "Hades" in the first paragraph above means "the underworld; the abode of the spirits of the dead". And it corresponds to "冥界" in Chinese.

In my childhood hometown in China, along the bank of Changjiang River, there are wharfs spread.

Not capitalized are the English words denoting subject matters (or branches of study, to put it another way), such as economics, mathematics, and sociology.

However, on the other hand, capitalized are the words denoting human and computer languages, such as Latin, Italian, Greek, and Perl.

And I don't know why.

In most cases, ignorance doesn't excruciate an individual, but poverty does. In much rarer cases, the opposite stands true.

The interrogational processes of the police must be specially designed not to violate the law but to help the police' investigative work effectively.

Well, maybe many university graduates in Canada and China leave their alma mater for the real world with insufficiently trained critical thinking skills.

And, boy, they leave for the working world, intentions awry.

The past a few days had experienced excruciatingly humid weather in Montreal. Had this city been in Southeastern Asia or somewhere? Gee.

"List, list, O list!" My life will be more and more on the internet, even.
