This blog is partly devoted to the sharing of my learning of the English language (my well mastered mother tongue is Chinese and I am not an English teacher) and its *cultures*, partly to the current significant trends in Canada and in the world, and partly to my own random thoughts and little life. I am not religious, but I am somewhat interested in Christianity and Buddhism, among other personal interests. Welcome. And, have a good day.

Music video - Go no more a-roving - Joan Baez
Lyrics (Actually it's a poem "We'll go no more a-roving" by Lord Byron):
Arthur Quiller-Couch, ed. 1919. The Oxford Book of English Verse: 1250–1900.
George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron. 1788–1824
599. We'll go no more a-roving
SO, we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.
For the sword outwears its sheath, 5
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon, 10
Yet we'll go no more a-roving
By the light of the moon.

In the literature of mathematics which is in Chinese and English, the Greek alphabet was introduced into it for the purpose of mathematical notations.
I wonder which symbols stand for those notations in the literature of Math which is in Greek. The English alphabet?
I'm telling you, I've been battling with information overload for a long time. I'm not alone. Info. overload is an epidemic of our era.
Everyone of us who's not out of touch has to TOUGH IT OUT, I'm afraid.

Many problems recur sooner or later. So you need to face them directly and solve them partially or completely.
On a related note, you must discern and filter out the trivial problems which will be solved automatically by the environment over time.
You know, the Chinese descendants overseas are quite good at devising excellent names for the food they sell and the restaurants they run.
There's the "fortune cookie", there's the "dim sun". And there's a lackluster Chinese restaurant in Montreal called "Fay Wong". Why isn't the wonton called 'wanton' instead? :-)
Don't take this little joke seriously, please.

A question: Why is the Christian God "a jealous god"?
As in the Bible:Exodus 20:5, "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me".

The "Shield of David", the symbol of the Jewish people and Judaism, is quite interesting.
See the name's origin here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_David#Origin_of_the_name .

In topology, "a sphere is an orientable surface with no boundary".
(See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klein_bottle and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphere#Topology .)
Well, the meaning of 'boundary' in topology is so confusing in my untrained eye.

The household drainage brings great convenience to people's life. But the drain clog that is naturally inevitable to be formed is a small annoyance occasionally.
See, with every solution, even where it's great, comes accompanied problems of its own.

When there have been more and more descendants of Eastern Asians enrolled in top-notch universities and colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada, they bring with them some entrenched dispositions to those higher education institutes. The heavier and heavier presence of those embedded dispositions and their caused behaviors may be a portentous sign of the shift of the higher education in both countries.
If you REALLY OBJECTIVELY think about that matter, then you may agree that my above sentences have got their point.
It seems that making Microsoft really invest in protecting its Hotmail and Live email services from hackers' invasions is like squaring a circle. That's virtually impossible. I get fishy emails from obviously compromised email accounts, which are held by my acquaintances, every once a while during the past several years.
